Welcome to Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: The Secret Chime! Before roleplaying, please read the rules, as they are necessary for everyone to actually enjoy being on the site.
There is no excuse for players who don't read the rules. "That wasn't in there!" Will not work as an excuse, because I will launch a Global Update for whenever the rules are updated. "I just joined!" Won't be working either, for these are expected to be read BEFORE roleplaying or chatting.
Well, if that's all clear... to get on with it, the rules are divided into three sections: Character Rules, for what your character can be and what they can do, Roleplaying Rules, for what can be done in roleplay, and Out of Character Rules, for things that happen outside of roleplay, like chatting.
Now, to get these out of the way!:
Character Rules:
Species:
-Your character must be a Pokémon, since this is a Mystery Dungeon roleplay.
-No hybrids, Fakemon, or anything else that isn't in the Mystery Dungeon universe.
-Your character's species should match the general appearance of their sprites and artwork. Recolors should be kept to changing small things, like eye colour or stripes.
-Your character cannot be a legendary Pokémon or shadow Pokémon.
-Shiny Pokémon are allowed.
History:
Your characters history must not involve:
-Going into an afterlife
-Being a former human (It's definitely not a common thing in the mystery dungeon universe.)
-Speaking to a legendary Pokémon
Moves and Abilities:
-Characters can only know four moves at once, just like the games. They can have up to four Egg Moves, but TM moves must be found in TM's which can found in dungeons, and Tutor Moves can be learned from other Pokémon who know the move.
-Your Character may have any ability it can have in cannon.
Other Rules:
-Characters must start at level 35 or less. They can be in their evolved forms.
Roleplay Rules:
Realism:
-Be slightly realistic. You cannot bend the will of time and space to do whatever you want in roleplay.
-There is no advanced machinery in the Pokémon World. Meaning that there are no electrical machines, cars, or anything like that. Keep this in mind in roleplay.
-Legendary Pokémon are rarely to never encountered. If they are, they are only to be played by staff.
Items:
-There is a thread stickied in each dungeon topic saying which items can be found. Check it before finding any items.
-Items cannot be found excessively. Try to limit it at four items every three or so pages.
Feral Pokémon/Enemies:
-Keep in mind that you would probably not be able to defeat an enemy if they're much higher than your current level. Other than that, their isn't too much to say about feral Pokémon.
Power playing and Auto-hitting:
Power playing is when your character is so powerful, they can never get defeated and always win, without giving your opponent a chance at victory. This is Power playing, and is banned.
On the topic of that, Auto-hitting is also not allowed on this site. Auto-hitting means you don't give your enemy a chance to dodge.
Instead of "Charizard hit Bulbasaur with Flamethrower."
Try: "Charizard shot a Flamethrower attack at Bulbasaur."
That would give the other person a chance to say:
"Bulbasaur jumped to the side, narrowly missing the flames."
Maybe Bulbasaur's player doesn't want his character to get hit by the attack, so it's a little unfair to force his character to get injured.
Also use words like "Tried too" and "Aimed"
"Meowth hit Pikachu with Metal Claw."
Turns into:
"Meowth aimed a Metal Claw attack at Pikachu."
"Poochyena used Bite on Skitty."
Turns into:
"Poochyena tried to hit Skitty with Bite."
At the same time, you can't always dodge. With the power to evade comes the responsibility to get hit once in a while and not abuse this system. That ties into Power playing, and can be reported.
Other Rules:
-Avoid discussion on religion and politics. Those are subjects that are over much debate, and I would not prefer to bring them here.
-Be polite, try to consider what you're saying. Things come across differently on a computer screen then they do in real life.
-If you see someone breaking the rules multiple times, do not try to correct them yourselves. When members do a moderators job, this is called "mini-modding". It often comes across as very rude, and can easily lead to arguments. Please just report the person and let the staff do their work.
If any clarification on the rules is needed, feel free to ask below! No one here bites, after all!
... Pew, I survived. You guys all did too, right? That's good.
I hope to see some of you around!
